Vinod Khanna (born 6 October 1946) is an Indian actor and producer of Bollywood films. He is also an active politician. He is the sitting MP from Gurdaspur. He appeared in 141 films between 1968 and 2013.

Khanna acted in lead roles in many superhit films and is best remembered for his performance in films like Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Imitihaan, Inkaar, Amar Akbar Anthony, Lahu ke Do Rang, Qurbani, Dayavaan and Jurm.

After making his debut in 1968, Khanna first acted in small second lead roles or negative roles. His angry young man role in the superhit movie Mere Apne, his negative role as the main villain in the superhit movie Mera Gaon Mera Desh and his role in the crtically acclaimed movie Achanak as the military officer turned fugitive received tremendous applause from both- the film industry and his fans.

Khanna is popularly hailed as one of the most handsome lead actors ever in Bollywood, along with Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna and Shammi Kapoor.

While his elder son Rahul Khanna stated the 70-year-old to be hospitalised due to ‘severe dehydration’, a photograph of weak and pale looking Vinod Khanna sparked rumours over the actor having bladder cancer. Later, senior actor’s death hoax went viral on WhatsApp but was dismissed soon. But Amitabh Bachchan’s tweet ‘passing of the near and dear and colleagues’ has sent the social media into a tizzy wondering if Vinod Khanna is already dead!  A photograph of Vinod Khanna surfaced on the social media that showed the yesteryear actor looking frail in the hospital uniform. He was admitted on Friday night (March 31, 2017) to HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaum. Vinod Khanna was seen hugging his wife Kavita in the picture which got everyone attention as the actor seems to have lost a lot of weight. The actor who was last seen on the silver screen with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale seem unrecognizable generating fear among his fans and well-wishers.

Amitabh Bachchan who is one of the most socially active celebs on the micro-blogging platform tweeted on Thursday night, writing, “T 2486 – Strange is it not, that the passing of the near and dear and colleagues, coerces one to start questioning one’s own longevity !”
